Metal Primer |
Description
Dexter Hysol Primer 2000 is a wipe on metal primer designed to prepare
stainless steel and aluminum surfaces for bonding with Dexter Hysol
methacrylate adhesives. Serving as a barrier against corrosion, Dexter
Hysol Primer 2000 cleanses and etches these metals and provides reactive
sites to which the adhesive can chemically crosslink. This product
significantly enhances the bond strengths of these advanced methacrylate
adhesives while improving bond durability after exposure to harsh
salt-water environments. Dexter Hysol Primer 2000 is applied by either
brush or rag.

Handling and Application
Applying: Primer 2000 can be applied by wiping or brushing
the solution on to the surface of the metallic
substrate. A clean cotton cloth or a clean brush is recommended.
Sufficient coverage is achieved once all of the bonding surfaces exhibit
a blue tint. Areas not exhibiting this color have been missed and should
be re-coated with Dexter Hysol Primer 2000 to guarantee maximum
performance of the bond. Reapplying Dexter Hysol Primer 2000 over
previously coated areas will not sacrifice product performance.
Clean Up: Dexter Hysol Primer 2000 can easily be removed from
undesired areas by simply wiping the
designated area with any mild solvent such as isopropyl alcohol or
citrus cleaner.
Storage
Dexter Hysol Primer 2000 contains flammable solvents. The product
should always be used in well-ventilated areas and capped when not in
use. Store between 50oF
– 80oF.
Dexter Hysol Primer 2000 has a shelf life of one year from the
date of manufacture. The Material Safety Data Sheet for Dexter Hysol
Primer 2000 is available upon request.
Packaging
Dexter
Hysol Primer 2000 is available in one-quart cans and one-gallon pails.
